Emma and Craig

The most fantastic vintage inspired wedding of Emma and Craig from last summer.

With only a short period of time before her wedding day, Emma contacted me with a request for two large suspended floral arrangements to be hung in the most amazing barn conversion where she was to marry Craig.

The venue was to be the stunnning Hazel Gap Barn, a relatively new wedding venue on the outskirts of Sherwood Forest.

As you can see from these fabulous images, by the extremely talented  Becky Ryan Photography, Emma and Craig had an amazing vintage inspired day.

Emma was a real pleasure to work with, and although we didn’t get to meet each other until the day before the wedding, (everything was discussed over the phone and via email) she felt confident enough to allow me a free hand in creating her dream.

In her own words she ”was unsure of what exactly she wanted, other than lots of foliage and a few flowers and could you just create something natural and rustic?’

Floral designers, just love to hear those words, and so with a budget set, I was able to create two of the largest suspended arrangements that I have made to date.

They did look amazing and added a real WOW to the barn.

Here are a fabulous couple ‘oozing’  style. I think you’ll agree that Emma really rocks the vintage look and looks stunning…and….Craig sure wears a kilt well!

What a day, filled with so much fun, vintage cars, smoke bombs, sparklers and a cailidh,

Kayleigh and Carl

It’s always such a pleasure to meet new couples, and so rewarding to find out that they have been recommended by a previous happy bride and groom. In this case Kayleigh and Carl were the second couple to be recommended by Elaine and Chris.

Kayleigh was lovely to work with, very laid back and not too choosy about the type of flowers that she wanted to see in her bouquets and centrepieces. Roses though, were a ‘must have’ but by and large as long as the blooms were in her chosen colour palette of dusky pink and blush she assured me she would happy. Manna to any florist, we love to be given a little leeway .

The wedding was held at one of Nottingham’s finest venues Swancar Farm. It’s always such a pleasure to drive up the long driveway and enjoy the view across the open countryside on the approach up to the old farmhouse. The Oak barn looked fabulous dressed in Rose Gold glitz with styling by Imagine events.

Huge thanks to Paul for these beautiful images.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Palmer and Best Wishes your future together!

Thank you to the very talented Paul at Paul Eyre Images for kind permission to share these stunning images

Nicola and Luke

Nicola and Luke travelled to Thailand to tie the knot. On their return to the U.K they threw a big party for all of their friends and family who couldn’t be with them, in celebration of their new married status as ‘Mr and Mrs North’.

The Carriage Hall was dressed with blooms that reflected an English Country Garden feel but, that also gave a ‘nod’ to the couple’s destination wedding . An ‘East meets West’ vibe.

Nicola loved the idea of bright, vibrant colours her wish was for blooms in hot pink, orange and zesty lime.

Roses in orange and coral, Orchids in yellow and lime green, exotic, hot pink Gloriosa and trailing Amaranths  were used to stunning effect in tall candelabra centrepieces.

Huge ‘Thank you’ to Helen at helenkingphotography for the beautiful images….Gorgeous!

Angela and James

It’s turned rather cold outside, and we’re already halfway through November! Christmas is fast approaching…it seems way too soon! Just where has the time gone?

Wedding season is all but over here at Akito, only two more weddings to go. The last one being on New Year’s Eve. So now is the ideal time for me to look back and share another fabulous wedding from the summer. A real stunner!

The Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel, in the Cathedral village of Southwell, for Angela and James’ intimate marriage, celebrating with close family and friends, on a glorious summer day in July.

James has been one of only a handful of grooms’ that had a clear idea of how he wanted his buttonhole to look. Not a traditional single bloom with foliage, but a textural mix of succulents, foliage and berries with the smallest touch of white to tie in with Angela’s modern bouquet.

And wow! what a bouquet? We were so lucky to get Angela’s dream blooms…White peonies, (we were so close to the end of their season), they looked amazing teamed with large, white protea, succulents and eucalyptus……Gorgeous!!

Angela, looking happy and relaxed with her girls’ before the big entrace.

Loving the look on everyone’s face in this great picture, a proud dad and a special moment between bride and groom, on the verge of becoming man and wife. Beautiful images, Melissa

Rhiann and Steve

Today’s wedding sees a return to the beautiful setting of Holme Pierrepont Hall for the wedding of Rhiann and Steve. Such a fabulous wedding venue, with amazing gardens, perfect for a festival style wedding complete with a tepee and outdoor bar!

Rhiann and Steve were a real pleasure to work alongside, so relaxed and laid back regarding their flower choice. The only proviso was for a ‘cottage garden’ look, using blooms in purple hues…and ”definitely…a few daisies, please”. (Such a joy for any florist to hear).

The ceremony and wedding breakfast were held in the historic long gallery, which looked fabulous dressed with rustic stoneware jugs, bursting with a perfect mix of purple and lilac blooms.Family and friends enjoyed a delicious wedding breakfast, provided by Saffron Catering, before retiring outside to the tepee and the picturesque grounds for a fun filled evening of celebrations.

All of the centrepieces and the two large urn arrangements from the staircase were transferred across the lawn, after the ceremony to dress the long wooden tables inside the tepee, for the evening guests to enjoy.

I hope you enjoy looking in on Mr and Mrs Shepperson’s Big Day, as much as I have. Great memories captured so beautifully by wedding photographer John

Rhiann’s beautiful, cascading, bouquet included Rose, Scabiosa, Lisianthus,Clematis and Daisies.

The gorgeous, three tier stacked cake by The Ruddington Cake Company was dressed with pretty fresh flowers.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to Mr and Mrs Shepperson, huge Thank you for sharing your day with us!

And last but not least Mr and Mrs Shepperson have asked me to pass on their ‘Huge Thanks’ to all of the brilliant suppliers who helped make their day so special.
