The majority of brides look forward to a wedding during the warm summer months….but winter weddings can be just as amazing!
Just think of icicles, snow covered twigs and the sunlight falling on snow covered trees everything appears to have been dusted with glitter.
A colour scheme of silver and white gives a cool sophistication to your winter wedding, clear glass vases, crystals, feathers and mirrored surfaces all lend themselves beautifully to either a contemporary wedding or a more ‘theatrical’ winter wonderland theme..
Candles, Hurricane lamps and twigs, either natural or coated in silver or white, can all be used to great effect.
White flowers that are available during the winter months, Amaryllis and Lily’s with their large heads and tall stems make tall, statement arrangements. Gypsophilla can look brilliant arranged into large simple but stunning ‘snowdrifts’ on either low or tall table vases. They look especially good with tiny lights positioned through them. Roses are available all year round.
Tulips look beautiful as hand tied bridal bouquets and one in particular that lends itself to a winter theme is called ‘Honeymoon’ a white tulip with a frilled edge.
It’s not just flowers that can be used to good effect, white snowberries, brunnia and grey ‘steel berries’ add interest to the winter bouquet.
Lastly… a really good reason to consider a wedding in winter…many venues and wedding suppliers offer ‘special’ rates to prospective bride and groom during their quiet periods before and after Christmas.
