Natalie and Jordan

An extra special wedding on today’s blog, Natalie and Jordan at The Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel in Southwell.

The last time I had seen Natalie was as a little girl playing in the street a few doors away from me. Her initial enquiry reminded me that she used to live a few doors away and asked if I could remember her. It was so lovely to meet up with her again, to see how she’d grown up into this beautiful young lady embarking on this new journey of planning her wedding. (Gosh I felt old, where had that time gone in between?) It was lovely to catch up with her and her mum at our initial planning meeting. Needless to say as well as talking all things wedding and flowers, we had a laugh reminiscing about those earlier days.

Natalie’s dream was a pretty and romantic mix of blooms: antique lilac and blush pink roses, lemon scented waxflower and soft blue grey foliage, to be used throughout all of the bouquets and arrangements.

It was a lovely, sunny crisp morning as I drove to the venue to deliver the flowers…who would have guessed that as I was unloading the final few arrangements, the snow began to fall!

Natalie and Jordan didn’t let this little surprise spoil their day..they braved the cold happily for Martin at makowskiphotography to get some truly gorgeous images. Loving wedding photographs in the snow!

Lorna and Ian

Lorna and Ian’s wedding took place at The Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, on a scorching hot day at the beginning of July. I think it was one of the hottest days of the summer! (28 degrees) I clearly remember delivering the flowers in stifling heat…the kind of heat that makes a florist just a little nervous.

There was no problem with these gorgeous blooms though, Lorna’s bouquet was a classic mix of Roses, Freesia, and Orchids which all stand up really well, even on the hottest of days.  They may have been a selection of traditional summer blooms, but we bought them ‘bang up to date’ with a modern twist, a sumptuous, cascading, hand tied design in the most amazing colour palette. Which as it happens turned out to be THE #Pantone colour for 2018 ”Ultra Violet”…..(Were we in on it first)?

Lorna was such a lovely, relaxed bride to work with, and of course her wish as any bride was for a ‘perfect day’ But as is evident in this little snippet she told me about their day.

”We were travelling down the motorway in our little vintage car, when it slowed down to 20 mph!! But hey, if the worst comes to the worst and it stops?….What will we do?……Get a taxi, of course!”

Proud Mum and Dad with their beautiful daughter arriving at the venue.

Lorna’s  stunning gown was from Labelle Boutique. in Sutton in Ashfield.

Lorna and her beautiful girls’….Can you spot the amazing likeness to the bride of one of these beauties? Lorna’s twin sister Ana, is in there.

Another great piece of advice from Lorna and Ian,

”Take a little time out on your own, at some point in the day, relax and reflect on the day. A little time away, on your own, as a newly-married couple enjoying that new and  special bond that you have just made, as Man and Wife is really special and needs to be savoured”.

Emma and Craig

The most fantastic vintage inspired wedding of Emma and Craig from last summer.

With only a short period of time before her wedding day, Emma contacted me with a request for two large suspended floral arrangements to be hung in the most amazing barn conversion where she was to marry Craig.

The venue was to be the stunnning Hazel Gap Barn, a relatively new wedding venue on the outskirts of Sherwood Forest.

As you can see from these fabulous images, by the extremely talented  Becky Ryan Photography, Emma and Craig had an amazing vintage inspired day.

Emma was a real pleasure to work with, and although we didn’t get to meet each other until the day before the wedding, (everything was discussed over the phone and via email) she felt confident enough to allow me a free hand in creating her dream.

In her own words she ”was unsure of what exactly she wanted, other than lots of foliage and a few flowers and could you just create something natural and rustic?’

Floral designers, just love to hear those words, and so with a budget set, I was able to create two of the largest suspended arrangements that I have made to date.

They did look amazing and added a real WOW to the barn.

Here are a fabulous couple ‘oozing’  style. I think you’ll agree that Emma really rocks the vintage look and looks stunning…and….Craig sure wears a kilt well!

What a day, filled with so much fun, vintage cars, smoke bombs, sparklers and a cailidh,
